Shane has recently returned from the United States, where he and brother Clayton met with several studio heads whilst there to discuss future projects. We can’t say too much just yet, but needless to say – watch this space.
Shane has recently finished shooting on two new Australian feature films. Part-heist film, part-road trip CACTUS sees John Kelly kidnap professional gambler Eli Jones and embark on a mission through the Australian outback to deliver his hostage to some unknown identities. Due for release in 2008, CACTUS is the debut feature for Writer and Director Jasmine Yuen-Carrucan and is produced by Paul Sullivan and Executive Produced by Australian film legend Bryan Brown.
From sandy deserts to sandy beaches, the second film he recently completed was NEWCASTLE. It tells the tale of three boys trying to break into professional surfing. It’s a coming-of-age tale and Shane plays Reggie, father of three boys.
Fellow AFI award-winner Anthony Hayes (SUBURBAN MAYHEM), and TV drama veteran Joy Smithers are in the cast, alongside Lachlan Buchanan, Xavier Samuel and Kirk Jenkins who play the aspiring surfers. Written and directed by Dan Castle, NEWCASTLE is executive produced by Charles Hannah (THE WORLD’S FASTEST INDIAN) and produced by Naomi Wenck (TEN EMPTY).
The eagerly anticipated Kenny spin-off TV series is currently in development for a national commercial network but in the meantime you can catch Shane on the small screen on ABC TV’s hit music trivia program Spicks ‘n Specks, July 25th and again on the 29th of August.
