Mirabel Charity Luncheon raises $20,000 !

On June 17th we were thrilled to raise over $20,000 at the 2010 Mirabel Charity Luncheon. The luncheon also included a preview screening of ‘Polly and Me’, a dramatic short film by award-winning writer and director Ian Darling. The film tells the story of one little girl who has fallen between the cracks and reminds us that just because we don’t see her, it doesn’t mean she isn’t there. The Mirabel Foundation supports children orphaned or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use. With me in this photo are Jane Rowe (Mirabel) and Ian Darling (Director of ‘Polly and Me’).

Mirabel Foundation

Shane is the patron of The Mirabel Foundation, it was established in 1998 to assist children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use and are now in the care of extended family (kinship care). Mirabel believes that every child deserves a childhood and its mission is to break the destructive cycle of addiction.

Variety - The Children's Charity Bash

The Variety Bash is a large fundraising motoring event where the focus is firmly placed on having fun. It's a hilariously madcap event - involving outrageously themed cars and participants.

A host of organised and spontaneous events and fantastic entertainment enhance the great community spirit and camaraderie the Bash engenders in its participants. Shane is the Ambassador for the 2010 Bash.

Royal Flying Doctor Service

Founded in 1928 with just one aircraft, one doctor and one pilot in Queensland, the Royal Flying Doctor Service has become an essential emergency medical and preventative health care organisation servicing vast rural and remote areas across Australia. People living, working and travelling in the bush can't always access mainstream health services or emergency care, so the Flying Doctor is there to help.

In October 2009 Shane was proud to help launch the new Rio Tinto 'Life Flight' jet which was purchased by RFDS Western Operations with the help of a $5 million sponsorship.
