Shane JacobsonBetter known for his warm and charismatic portrayal of the “fairdinkum Aussie bloke”, Kenny, Shane Jacobson won the 2006 AFI Award for Best Lead Actor, the 2006 Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role, the 2007 Film Ink Magazine Awards for Best New Comer and won 2007 Australian Star of the Year Award at the Australian International Movie Convention. “Kenny” was the highest grossing Australian film of 2006.

Shane Jacobson began his career on the stage at the tender age of 10 with amateur theatre, performing in Australia and overseas. At age 18 Shane began his comedy career with regular theatre restaurant, musical theatre, stand-up and MC gigs. It wasn’t long until the corporate world caught onto his talent for characterisation and a quick quip, hiring him to play to huge corporate functions impersonating business icons and luminaries. His sharply honed performance and character skills were noticed by Melbourne’s Gold FM radio station, who in 1999 gave him a regular spot. Shane’s focus eventually moved towards the camera and he began acting in prominent Music Videos, Short Films and TV Commercials whilst continuing to perform audience Warm-Ups for all the major TV networks.

Shane and his Brother/director Clayton Jacobson shared the 2006 IF Awards for both Best Feature Film and Best Script and the 2006 Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 2007 Shane acted in the feature film NEWCASTLE, directed by Dan Castle and CACTUS, directed by Jasmine Yuen-Carrucan. In 2008 Shane completed a 5 month season of Guys ‘N’ Dolls at the Princess Theatre as “Nicely Nicely”. For his role he won a Helpmann Award – Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

Shane reprised the role of “Nicely Nicely” in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre for 12 weeks in March 2009 along side Kath and Kim’s Magda Szubanski, Sea Patrol’s Lisa McCune and Ian Stenlake, Mother and Son’s Garry McDonald and singing star Marina Prior.

Also in 2009 we saw the cinema release of Shane’s feature film Charlie & Boots also starring Paul Hogan which reached approx $4million at the Australian Box office and was released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 31 through Paramount Home Entertainment. The Jacobson Brothers launched their ground breaking comedy series Mordy Koots a 10 x 3 minute series which is currently available and is now also an application on iTunes.

Filming wrapped in December in the beautiful country town of Warburton, Victoria for Shane next feature film Surviving Georgia also starring Pia Miranda, Holly Valance, Caroline O’Connor and Spencer McLaren. Directed by Sandra Sciberras and Kate Whitbread (Caterpillar Wish) and Produced by Kate Whitbread and Spencer McLaren.

Shane is currently performing The Drowsy Chaperone for the MTC which also stars Geoffrey Rush, Robyn Nevin and Rhonda Burchmore – the season runs until Feb 27 at the Vic Arts Centre and he has just signed with Channel 9 as the host of their upcoming show “When I grow up” to be aired in 2010
