Since late in 2007 Shane has traveled around the world filming KENNY’S WORLD. He visited Singapore, Thailand, Japan, China, India, USA, Europe, Russia, Egypt and Sweden. Kenny’s World is now in post production and is due for broadcast on Channel 10 in the latter half of 2008. Here is a sneak peak of Shane as Kenny in Egypt.

But for now the time has come for Shane to return to his theatrical roots as the character Nicely Nicely Johnson when GUYS n DOLLS opens this week at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre. The outstanding cast includes Garry McDonald, Magda Szubanksi, Lisa McCune, Ian Stenlake and Marina Prior – For tickets go to Ticketek or for more details go to The Guys n Dolls website. Here is a behind the scenes look at Shane in rehearsal with Garry Mc Donald, Shane in character as Nicely Nicely Johnson and the whole cast of Guys N Dolls.

And the reviews are in Herald Sun – “A standout”. “An exuberant man of musical theatre” and The Age – “Shane Jacobson’s performance is the kind that has audiences calling for more”..

Also coming up for Shane is the cinema release of two Australian Films – CACTUS and NEWCASTLE.

CACTUS is the debut feature film from writer and director Jasmine Yuen-Carrucan and Executive Produced by Bryan Brown. John (Travis McMahon) kidnaps a young man one night in Sydney and bundles him into his car for a long drive into the outback. The prisoner, Eli (David Lyons), is frightened but confused why he is being kidnapped – and by whom. The long drive pits the men against each other, but it also forces them into an uneasy bond as John reluctantly reveals his compelling motivation for taking on this job. A single unintended event leads to the unraveling of John’s delivery plan and thrusts the two men into a vortex of tragic consequences.

The film opens in Australia on May 1.

NEWCASTLE will debut at Robert De Niro’s annual festival Tribeca in New York From April 25 and is due for release in Australia later this year.

NEWCASTLE is a coming-of-age/family drama/surfing movie set in Newcastle Australia. 17-year old Jesse lives in the shadow of his older brother Victor’s failure to become surfing’s Next Big Thing. Even when he’s in his natural habitat of magnificent surf breaks, his blue collar future is brought home by the coal barges that constantly line his horizon. Jesse has the natural skills to surf his way out of this reality and onto the international circuit but can he overcome his equally natural ability to sabotage himself? A momentous weekend away with his mates that includes first love and tragedy leads him to discover what’s really important, and also to the performance of a lifetime. Directed by Dan Castle.

SHANE CAST IN GUYS & DOLLS

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Announced today Shane has been cast as ‘Nicely-Nicely Johnson’ in The 2008 Production of Guys and Dolls.

Shane is joining forces with Kath and Kim’s Magda Szubanski, Sea Patrol’s Lisa McCune and Ian Stenlake, Mother and Son’s Garry McDonald and singing star Marina Prior to revive the classic Hollywood musical.

Set in New York in the 40s: small-time gambler Nathan Detroit bets his big-time pal Sky Masterson that he can’t make the next woman he sees fall in love with him. When the next ‘doll’ happens to be the neighbourhood missionary Sarah Brown, the stage is set for an evening of high-spirited entertainment. Loesser’s superlative score features such classics as ‘Luck be a Lady’, ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ The Boat’, ‘If I Were A Bell’ ‘Sue Me’ and, of course, ‘Guys and Dolls’.

Guys and Dolls will open at the Princess Theatre from March 2008.
